Member focused network!
Hi! I’m Gaurav...
After doing my Mechanical Engineering and MBA in Marketing and Finance, my first job was more of an accident. From the campus, I was selected to work as an Analyst in the strategy group of a well known IT services company in India. I moved to the US to continue working on the accidental job.
When I moved to Australia from there, I realized that I should be working in the area where I can truly contribute through my strengths and also one that is much needed service in the market. I entered the digital space of solving real problems through business analysis.
After that I never looked back and worked on many interesting projects throughout my career. In 2017, I started Finding a job in Australia meetup and started helping many to find their first or next jobs in Australia. Through this journey of helping others, I realized that there is a need to have a professional network which is member focused and helps people achieve their own career goals.
Fast forward to 2021 and in the middle of the pandemic, I launched the career progress network. It is a growing community of professionals who have decided to grow and progress in their careers and in the process identified the importance of having the right people around them.
I thank you for vising this site and also reading my story but more importantly, if you are truly focused on your growth, I invite you to attend one of our informative events and see for yourself if this network is something for you.
See you on the another site!!
YOU CAN DEFINE CAREER GOALS THAT MATTER TO YOU IN THREE STEPS
As you’re pursuing something that’s truly important to you, centering your professional development goals on your core beliefs can help you feel more fulfilled on a daily basis. If your goals and values are in alignment, you will be less likely to burn out and more likely to stay motivated.
Identifying your core values: Asking yourself what is most important to you and what type of work has previously fulfilled you is a great place to start.
Try these exercises if you get stuck:
- Visualize who you will be when you reach that point in your future and write about it.
- Come up with three assertions and then break them down into their individual values (e.g. honesty, leadership, and creativity).
Now that you’ve identified your fundamental values, you can start thinking about how they might influence your career.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself:
- What are some things you’d like to do more of?
- What do you wish you could do less of?
- What kind of work brings you the most joy?
- What does your perfect workday entail for you?
- Where do you shine?
Take your time to think about this-don’t rush into making a decision just yet. Keeping in mind that you (and your goals) evolve over time is an important part of the process.
Once you’ve completed the internal work, setting career goals should be simple.
In this step, you have taken a step back and assessed what you value and desire in your professional life, as well as how those values can impact your career choices.
- Let’s set long- and short-term objectives.
- First, set your long-term goals, and then break them down into more manageable short-term objectives.
Consider your long-term professional goals as a road map and your short-term career goals as stepping stones.
- It can be your long-term objective, for example, to become a dependable and trustworthy boss.
- In the short term, you might enroll in a class on people management or explore leadership opportunities at your company.

GET YOUR CUSTOMIZED GOAL TREE
A career path can be discussed with your boss at several bi-annual meetings. Some businesses demonstrate a strong commitment to their employees by assisting them with resources such as time and money when possible. However, keep in mind that this is your career path.
